Mustafa Said Qadir (born 6 July 1958 inQaladize, Sulaymaniyah Governorate) has beenVice President of Kurdistan Region underNechirvan Idris Barzani's administration since 8 September 2019.[1][2]
Mustafa earned a degree fromTechnical Institute of Agriculture in Baghdad in 1979. He was a political prisoner under theBa'athist Iraq. He used to hold senior positions withinPatriotic Union of Kurdistan, including membership in PUK politburo. Currently he is one of the leaders of theGorran Movement.[2]
Mustafa became a member of the newly establishedKurdistan National Assembly in its firstthe parliamentary election of 1992,[3] and he was appointed as minister of interior in PUK's Sulaymaniyah administration in 1998.[2] He was also minister of thePeshmerga forces.
In 2019, Mustafa was selected as Gorran candidate forVice President of Kurdistan Region.[4]
