Themusic ofPalau finds its heritage inMicronesia, but it has been supplemented with influences from theUnited States andWestern Europe, as well asJapan.

The government department of the Republic of Palau and Director of theBureau of Arts and Culture are in charge of developing and implementing cultural policies is theMinistry of Community and Cultural Affairs."Belau rekid", thenational anthem of Palau, was written byYmesei O. Ezekiel, and has been the anthem since 1980.

There are nointellectual property restrictions in Palau.

The modern Palauanpop music scene began in the mid-1980s[1]. The country recorded popular sound includes element ofJapanese music, legacy of a period of Japanese domination[2]. The American influence can be heard in a distinctly Palauan form ofcountry music. Popular performers includeIN-X-ES, whose "Mousubes" was a major commercial success in 1999.
