Museum London is anart andhistory museum located inLondon,Ontario, Canada. It is located near the forks of theThames River.[1] It started its operations in 1940 with London Public Library and amalgamated with London Regional Art Gallery and London Regional Historical Museum in 1989. The current building is designed byRaymond Moriyama, architect ofScience North inGreater Sudbury, theBata Shoe Museum in Toronto, and theNational Museum of Saudi Arabia inRiyadh.
In 2018, the museum opened an expansion to the museum called Centre of the Forks.[2]
The museum's collection contains 45,000 artifacts and 5,000 pieces of art.[3] The museum's art collection includes works byLawren Harris, one of the founders of the Group of Seven,[4]Kent Monkman, andEdward Burtynsky.[5] In 2004, theLondon Health Sciences Centre gave the museum its medical artifact collection.[6]
