TheMumbai Cricket Association (formerlyBombay Cricket Association) is the governing body for cricket inMumbai and surrounding regions such asThane,Navi Mumbai. Its headquarters is situated atWankhede Stadium inChurchgate.

It governsMumbai cricket team and sanctions cricket tournaments in Mumbai district. Its Mumbai team is among the most dominant in India'sFirst-class cricket. It has wonRanji Trophy for record 41 times. Cricketers such asVijay Merchant,Sunil Gavaskar,Sachin Tendulkar,Rohit Sharma etc. have played for MCA's team. Its team is historically known asbatting powerhouse and for "Khadoos" style of play.[1]

The association was established in 1930 as Bombay Cricket Association. Its name was changed after Bombay got renamed as Mumbai.[2] It is one of three cricket associations that govern cricket inMaharashtra in different regions. The others areVidarbha Cricket Association controlling theVidarbha region andMaharashtra cricket association that governs cricket in the rest of Maharashtra.

In 1972, under the presidency tenure ofS.K. Wankhede, MCA built its own cricket stadium, which was named after S.K. Wankhede asWankhede Stadium. MCA renovated it before2011 ICC cricket World Cup. It is the home ground of Mumbai cricket team.[3] Since 2007BCCI's headquartersCricket centre is situated in the premises of MCA.
