Multimatic Inc. is a privately held Canadian corporation that supplies components, systems and engineering services to the global automotive industry. Headquartered inMarkham, Ontario, Multimatic has manufacturing divisions and engineering facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.[1] Multimatic was ranked 93 on theAutomotive News 2019 Top 100 Global OEM Parts Suppliers list and 56 in their list of the largest suppliers to North America, ranked by sales of original equipment parts in 2018.[2]
Multimatic engineered and constructed the carbon chassis and suspension systems for theRUF CTR3,[3] andAston Martin One-77,[4] and was Ford's build partner for the third-generationFord GT.[5] Multimatic also manufactures the lightweight carbon-fibre Monocoque for theAston Martin Valkyrie.[6] The company has also provided input on theAston Martin V12 Zagato,Aston Martin CC100,[7] andAston Martin Vulcan[8] models.
Multimatic Inc. is organized into five operating groups that make up the structure of the corporation.[9]
Multimatic also has amotorsport arm,Multimatic Motorsports, where they help engineer and develop for different racing teams and manufacturers. Currently, they provide engineering assistance toAston Martin for theirValkyrie AMR-LMH project,[10] and development assistance for bothFord with theirFord Mustang GT3 andFord Mustang GT4 sports cars. In the past, Multimatic also assisted Ford with the development of theFord GT LM GTE. Multimatic have also manufactured a sports car of their own with theMultimatic MDP1, aDaytona Prototype that they won in class with at the2003 24 Hours of Daytona.
In 2017, theLMP2 prototype class saw a new set regulations, and Multimatic, in a joint venture withRiley Technologies, was selected as one of four chassis manufacturers.[11] Riley and Multimatic unveiled theRiley-Multimatic MkXXX as their car for the new set of LMP2 regulations.[12] TheMazda RT24-P was also born out of the project to compete in the newDPi regulations that were unveiled in the same year.[12]
Their chassis was evolved for 2023, as Multimatic was selected as one of the four chassis suppliers for the newLMDh ruleset, one of two categories that would replace the outgoingLMP1 regulations, as well asDPi in North America.[13] Multimatic's LMDh chassis has seen considerable success thanks toPorsche's963,[14] having accumulated multiple wins and a championship since the car's debut at the2023 24 Hours of Daytona.[15][16]
