Swami Mukundananda is an Indian spiritual teacher, author, monk, and founder of theJagadguru Kripaluji Yog (JKYog) organization in the United States.[2]
Swami Mukundananda finished his B.Tech. fromIndian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He then completed his MBA from theIndian Institute of Management (IIM), Kolkata. After working for a brief time in a corporate house in India, he renounced his professional career to takesannyasa to pursue spiritual life.[3]
During his travels, Swami Mukundananda met many saints in India, read writings of the saints of the past, and lived in various holy places. Ultimately, he became a disciple ofJagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj. Under his guidance, he practicedsadhana and studied theVedic scriptures and the Indian and Western systems of philosophy.[4] Since then, Swami Mukundananda has been traveling to various countries to conduct programs and retreats on spirituality, yoga, and meditation.[2]
JKYog (Jagadguru Kripaluji Yog) is a non-profit charitable organization founded by Swami Mukundananda. JKYog inUSA is headquartered at theRadha Krishna Temple inDallas,Texas. JKYog inIndia, also known as Jagadguru Kripalu Yog Trust, is headquartered at the Jagadguru Kripalu University Campus, inBanara,Odisha.[5]
The main aim of JKYog is to teach the knowledge of theVedic scriptures, including theUpanishads,Puranas, andBhagavad Gita.[3]
Swami Mukundananda is the founder of the Yogic system, JKYog, "Jagadguru Kripalu Yog" also known as Yoga for the Body, Mind and Soul that incorporates physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual well-being.[6]
Swami Mukundananda speaks and writes on Vedic scriptures in his publications and lectures in a contemporary context.[7] His teachings draw onBhakti traditions within Hinduism, emphasizing devotional practices and service to humanity and God.[8] He addresses topics related to mental discipline, meditation, and personal improvement.
Swami Mukundananda has established multiple satsang centers in India and US. He has founded the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, USA;[9] Radha Krishna Temple,Bay Area, USA; and Radha Krishna Mandir,Cuttack, Odisha, India. He has also instituted the JKYog Ashram, Banara, Odisha, India; Purushottam Vatika,Puri, Odisha, India; and Shree Radha Nikunj Bihari Ashram,Sambalpur, Odisha, India.
Swami Mukundananda conducts Life Transformation Programs (LTPs) in multiple cities in the USA and India. These week-long programs include discourses and meditation sessions.[10][7]
In addition, he conducts spiritual retreats[11] in the USA and India aimed at the holistic upliftment of the body, mind, and soul. These retreats comprise yoga and meditation, knowledge sessions, chanting, festival celebrations, kids and youth classes, and question-and-answer sessions.
Jagadguru Kripalu University, founded by Swami Mukundananda, is a multidisciplinary university[5] being established in the developing state of Odisha,India. The University aims to provide quality and accessible education delivering programs in Health Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Studies, and Humanities, along with an emphasis on Spiritual Sciences, Yogic Sciences, and Naturopathy.[12]
Swami Mukundananda maintains aYouTube Channel that features videos on spirituality, meditation, and related topics.[13]
In 2020, Swami Mukundananda authored his second book on mind management, calledThe Science of Mind Management.[14][15][16][17]
He charts the four different aspects of the human mind and lays down a clear path towards mastering it. Through witty anecdotes, real-life accounts and stories from theVedic scriptures, he gently guides readers on the road to winning their inner battle.[14][16]
The book was ranked second in theHindustan Times Nielsen's bestseller list.[18]
