Mount Morgan is the highest point on Nevahbe Ridge in theSherwin Range of theSierra Nevada. It lies inMono County, California, betweenMcGee Canyon andHilton Lakes. The mountain is in theJohn Muir Wilderness Area in theInyo National Forest.
According to theKöppen climate classification system, Mount Morgan is located in analpine climate zone.[5] Mostweather fronts originate in thePacific Ocean, and travel east toward the Sierra Nevada mountains. As fronts approach, they are forced upward by the peaks (orographic lift), causing them to drop their moisture in the form of rain or snowfall onto the range
