Mount Mitchill is located inAtlantic Highlands,Monmouth County,New Jersey, United States. Standing at 266 feet (81 meters), it is the highestheadland of the United States east coast south of Maine.[1] It has a panoramic view ofRaritan Bay,New York City andSandy Hook and is near theTwin Lights Lighthouse inHighlands. It is the location of the Monmouth CountySeptember 11th Memorial.[2] It was named afterSamuel Latham Mitchill, who determined the height of the hill.[3]
