Mount Brewer is on theGreat Western Divide, a sub-range of theSierra Nevada inCalifornia. It is located inKings Canyon National Park,[8]

The peak was named forWilliam Henry Brewer who worked on the firstCalifornia Geological Survey and was the first Chair of Agriculture at Yale University'sSheffield Scientific School. He was chief of the field party that explored the central High Sierra in 1864.[6]
