Mouli Ganguly is an Indian actress, who has worked in both Hindi andBengali cinema.[1] She shot to fame as Shaina inEkta Kapoor'sthriller seriesKaahin Kissii Roz that aired from 2001 to 2004 onStar Plus. She played the title role inSaaksshi (2004).[2] She was also seen in Season 3 ofJamai Raja onZee TV as Payal Walia.[3] She was nominated in the Best Actor - Female category at the 2002 Indian Telly Awards. Currently, she is playing as Ira Sharma inJanani – AI Ki Kahani .

Early life

Ganguly was born inKolkata,West Bengal on 15 December 1982 and graduated in science from theUniversity of Calcutta.[4][5]

Career

She started modelling and has been in a number of TV and print ads.[4] She has modelled for products likePears, Rin, Ponds Face Wash, Horlicks, Rasna,Ariel,Close-Up, Pepsodent, Asian Paints, Britannia, Maggie, Saffola andBombay Dyeing.[citation needed]

She has also worked as an assistant director before she started acting.[citation needed]

In April 2001, Ganguly was cast in the lead role as Shaina inKaahin Kissii Roz. The highly rated show garnered her a lot of positive reviews. The show went on until September 2004. She later starred inKutumb andKkusum.[4] In 2004, Ganguly starred in theSony TV serialSaaksshi in the lead role oppositeSamir Soni andAmit Sadh.[6]

Her television success led to an appearance inRituporno Ghosh's filmRaincoat (2004) alongsideAishwarya Rai andAjay Devgan.[4] Thereafter she took a hiatus and made a comeback withAathvaan Vachan (2008).[7]

In 2009, she appeared on the reality dance showNach Baliye with her then boyfriend and co-starMazher Sayed.[citation needed]

She played the role of the antagonist in the serialKya Huaa Tera Vaada which aired onSony TV in 2012 starring as a shrewd businesswoman who rekindles a romance with a married man.[8] In 2016, she returned as an antagonist, this time in Season 3 ofZee TV'sJamai Raja.[citation needed]

Personal life

Mouli married her longtime boyfriend,Kaahin Kissii Roz co-starMazher Sayed, in 2010 in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family.[9][10][11]
