Theshort worm eel[2] (Moringua abbreviata) is aneel in the familyMoringuidae (spaghetti eels).[3] It was described byPieter Bleeker in 1863, originally under the genusAphthalmichthys.[4] It is atropicalmarine eel found in theIndo-Pacific, includingLaccadives, theRyukyu Islands, thePhilippines, theMarshall Islands,Samoa, andIndonesia. It is known to inhabitreefs. Males can reach a maximumtotal length of 33 cm.[3]
