Montorfano (English: "orphan hill";Brianzöö:Muntorfan[mũˈtɔrfã]) is a town andcomune in theprovince of Como, part ofLombardy, in northernItaly. It is situated about 5 kilometres (3 mi) south ofComo, which is at the southern tip ofLake Como, c. 40 kilometres (25 mi) north ofMilan. It has about 2,500 inhabitants.[3] The main attractions of Montorfano are its own very small lake and the Circolo Golf Villa d'Este, one of the main Italiangolf courses which has hosted twelveItalian Opens.[4]
