Monte Compatri (Italian pronunciation:[ˈmonteˈkɔmpatri]) is acomune (municipality) in theMetropolitan City of Rome in theItalian region ofLatium, located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast ofRome on theAlban Hills. It is one of theCastelli Romani.

History

Monte Compatri has been identified with the ancientLabicum, a colony ofAlba Longa. In the Middle Ages it was a fief of the Counts ofTusculum, then of theAnnibaldi, theAltemps and theBorghese.

  • Parish church ofSanta Maria Assunta in Cielo (1630–33), erected by will ofScipione Borghese. The campanile is the former communal tower. The façade was designed byCarlo Rainaldi
