Monaro Shire was alocal government area in theMonaro region ofNew South Wales, Australia. Monaro Shire was proclaimed on 7 March 1906.[1]
The Shire contained the villages ofBredbo andNimmitabel.[2]
TheLocal Government Areas Amalgamation Act 1980 saw the amalgamation of Monaro Shire with theMunicipality of Cooma to formCooma-Monaro Shire on 1 January 1981.[3]
