Molluscicides (/məˈlʌskɪˌsaɪds,-ˈlʌs-/)^[1][2] are chemicals that kill molluscs.^[3] They are also known assnail baits,snail pellets, orslug pellets. Thesepesticides againstmolluscs are usually used inagriculture orgardening, in order to controlgastropod pests specificallyslugs andsnails which damage crops or other valued plants by feeding on them.

A number of chemicals can be employed as a molluscicide:

• Quicklime slaked lime, andkainite, respectivelyCaO, Ca(OH)₂, and KCl/MgSO₄·3H₂O kill by dehydration. Hundreds of kilograms per hectare are required.^[3]
• Metalsalts such asiron(III) phosphate,aluminium sulfate, andferric sodium EDTA,^[4][5] relatively non-toxic, most are approved for use inorganic gardening
• Metaldehyde^[6]
• Niclosamide
• Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (e.g.methiocarb), highly toxic to other animals and humans with a quick onset of toxic symptoms.

Many chemicals have been developed as molluscicides.^[7][8]

Slug pellets contain a carbohydrate source (e.g.durum flour) as a bulking agent.^[9]
