AyatollahSayyidMohammad-Ali Mousavi Jazayeri (Persian:محمدعلی موسوی جزایری) (born 1941) is an IranianTwelverShiacleric,[8] who was the representative ofVali-Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist) inKhuzestan province from 1983 to 2019. He was elected by the order ofSayyid Ruhollah Khomeini, who was the previousSupreme Leader of Iran.[9]
He was born inShushtar,Khuzestan province,Iran.[10] He descends fromNematollah Jazayeri as a prominent Shia scholar.[11] Muhammad Ali Mousavi Jazayeri has studied in seminaries ofQom,Iran underGrand AyatollahRuhollah Khomeini andMohammad Ali Araki; and also in seminaries ofNajaf,Iraq underGrand AyatollahAbu al-Qasim al-Khoei.[12][13][14]
