Mohammad-Ali Allahdadi (Persian:محمدعلی الله‌دادی;c.1963 – January 18, 2015) was an Iranianbrigadier general in theIslamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a military officer in theQuds Force.[1]

Aveteran ofIran–Iraq War, he was killed inJanuary 2015 Mazraat Amal incident.[1]

Military career

Iran–Iraq War

Still a teenager, Allahdadi joinedIrregular Warfare Headquarters, anirregular warfare unit under command ofMostafa Chamran, as aguerrilla fighter. After fighting inOperation Tariq al-Qods, he moved to theIRGC Ground Forces' 41st Sarallah Division of Kerman as Lieutenant Colonel, underQasem Soleimani. During the war, he was promoted to Colonel.[1]

He was also involved in theBalochistan conflict.[1]

Syrian Civil War

In circa 2012, he was asked by previous Major GeneralQasem Soleimani to serve inSyrian Civil War.[1] Allahdadi had traveled toSyria to "provide consultation"[2] and was anadviser to theSyrian army.[3]

He was killed inJanuary 2015 Mazraat Amal incident, alongside six Hezbollah Fighters.[4] Following his death, the Revolutionary Guard released a statement saying "Zionists should await devastating thunder of theIRGC"[5] andIran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a "warning letter" toIsrael viaUnited States.[6]

A senior Israeli security source toldReuters "Israeli forces believed they were attacking only low-ranking Hezbollah members". Officially, Israel has not commented on the attack.[7]

Ten days after his death, Hezbollahlaunched an attack on an Israeli military convoy in theShebaa Farms area.

Legacy

2015 Southern Syria offensive was code-named "Allahdadi for Quneitra Martyrs".[8]
