Mohamed Abderrezak Benouza (Arabic:محمد بنوزة; born 26 September 1972 inOran) is an Algerianfootballreferee who currently resides inOran. He has been a full international referee forFIFA since 2001.
He was selected as a referee for the2007 FIFA Under 20 World Cup inCanada, where he refereed the match betweenPanama and theDemocratic People's Republic of Korea on 30 June 2007. He then took charge of the game betweenNew Zealand andMexico on 8 July 2007.[2]
Benouza was also selected for theAfrica Cup of Nations of2006 inEgypt,2008 inGhana,2010 inAngola,2012 inGabon andEquatorial Guinea and2013 inSouth Africa.
He was preselected as a referee for the2010 FIFA World Cup.[3] Benouza was called up to officiate at the finals, but was removed following the failure of a fitness test by his assistant referees.
