Mitchell Van Dyk (born June 18, 1991) is an American former professionalfootball player who was anoffensive tackle andguard. He playedcollege football for thePortland State Vikings and was selected by theSt. Louis Rams in the seventh round (with the 226th overall pick) of the2014 NFL draft.[1]

Early life

As a senior forPaso Robles High School, Van Dyk was converted fromtight end to offensive tackle.[2]

College career

Mitchell Van Dyk attendedPortland State University. Van Dyk played in a total of 36 games and started 33 of them.[3]

Van Dyk earned the starting spot at right tackle in 2011, and went on to twice win theVikings' Offensive Lineman of the Year accolade.[4] Following the 2013 season, he was selected as a third-team APAll-American honoree[5] and was invited to theCollege All-Star Bowl hosted by Furman.

Professional career

St. Louis Rams

Van Dyk was selected by theSt. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the2014 NFL draft.[6] He was released by the Rams on August 30, 2014 after the preseason.[7]

Pittsburgh Steelers

Van Dyk signed a reserve/future contract with thePittsburgh Steelers on January 15, 2015.[8] Van Dyk spent the entire 2015 season on the Steelers' injured reserve list after being waived-injured by the team on September 5, 2015.[9]

Indianapolis Colts

On April 20, 2016, Van Dyk signed with theIndianapolis Colts.[10] He was waived on May 2.[11] On June 6, 2016, Van Dyk was re-signed to the Colts roster.[12] On September 3, 2016, he was waived by the Colts as part of final roster cuts heading into the regular season.[13]

San Francisco 49ers

On December 13, 2016, Van Dyk was signed to theSan Francisco 49ers' practice squad.[14]

Calgary Stampeders

Van Dyk was signed to the practice roster of theCalgary Stampeders on November 10, 2016.[15]

He participated inThe Spring League in 2017.[16]

BC Lions

Van Dyk was signed to the practice roster of theBC Lions on September 12, 2017.[17]
