Miss Grand Korea 2020 (Korean:2020 미스 그랜드 코리아) was the fourth edition of theMiss Grand Koreabeauty pageant, held on August 15, 2020, at Grand Walkerhill Hotel,Gwangjin,Seoul,[1][2][3] where a twenty-five-year-oldHanyang University student fromSeoul, Lee Hyun-young, was announced the winner.[1][2][4][5] Hyun-young later represented the country at theMiss Grand International 2020 held inThailand in March 2021,[6] but she was unplaced.[7]
The contest featured thirty-six candidates,[8] who qualified for the national pageant via an audition held earlier in July.[9] The grand final round of the contest was hosted by Oh Hyun-Kyung, Tony Ahn, and Kim Jung-Geun,[10] and was live-transmitted to the audience nationwide via a free-to-air television channel,OBS Gyeongin TV.[10][11]
After acquiring the license ofMiss Grand Korea in early 2020, the Korea Premium Brand Association (KPBA), with Kim Ho-Seong as the president, opened an application in July 2020, to elect the finalists for the Miss Grand Korea 2020 pageant; of all applicants, 127 were qualified for the interview section,[9] where the number was narrowed down to 36.[12] The scoring system in its final competition consisted of 30% from a public vote, 20% from a pageant camp held by the organizer, and the rest from the final judges' panel.[13]
In addition to the contest held by KBPA, another contest with the same title, Miss Grand Korea 2020, was also held in late 2020, by a formerMiss Grand International franchise holder forSouth Korea, 1L2H Company. However, due to a legal dispute over the trademark, 1L2H Company later renamed its affiliated pageant to Miss Glorize Korea.[14]
