Miss America 1980, the 53rdMiss America pageant, was televised from theBoardwalk Hall inAtlantic City, New Jersey on September 8, 1979 by theNBC Television Network.Cheryl Prewitt was the third woman from Mississippi to win the title.[1] She was crowned byKylene Barker of Virginia,Miss America 1979.[1]
