Misako Watanabe (渡辺 美佐子,Watanabe Misako; born 23 October 1932) is a Japanese stage, film and television actress.
A graduate of theHaiyuza Theatre Company,[2] Watanabe gave her film debut inTadashi Imai'sTower of Lilies (1953)[1][3] before becoming a contract player at theNikkatsu film studios.[2] She appeared in almost 100 films of directors likeShōhei Imamura,Masahiro Shinoda andMasaki Kobayashi.[3]
She received theBlue Ribbon Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1958Endless Desire. In 1997 she was awarded aMedal of Honor with Purple Ribbon and in 2004 theOrder of the Rising Sun.[1]
