Mirosław Stanisław Wachowski (born 8 May 1970) is aPolish prelate of the Catholic Church who works in the diplomatic service of theHoly See. Since September 2025, he serves asApostolic Nuncio toIraq.
Wachowski was born inPisz,Poland, on 8 May 1970. He was ordained a priest on 15 June 1996, and incardinated in theDiocese of Ełk.[1] He graduated in canon law from thePontifical Lateran University.
He took courses at thePontifical Ecclesiastical Academy and entered the Holy See diplomatic service on 1 July 2004. He served in Senegal, in the Permanent Mission at theInternational Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.), theOrganization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (O.S.C.E.) and in theUnited Nations Office and Specialized Institutions in Vienna, at the apostolic nunciature in Poland. Lastly he served in theSection for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State.[1] In 2007, he received the dignity ofChaplain of His Holiness.[2]
He was appointed Under-Secretary for Relations with States (deputy foreign minister) on 24 October 2019.
He knows Italian, English, French, Spanish and Russian.
On 18 September 2025 he was appointed apostolic nuncio toIraq and concurrentlyTitular Archbishop ofVillamagna in Proconsulari.[1][3] He was consecrated as an archbishop on 26 October 2025.
