TheMinistry of National Education (Polish:Ministerstwo Edukacji Narodowej[mi.ɲisˈtɛr.stfɔɛ.duˈka.t͡sjina.rɔˈdɔ.vɛj], MEN) is a ministerial department of thegovernment of Poland, established on 1 January 2024 after being separated from theMinistry of Education and Science.[1] The ministry's prerogatives include setting educational standards and youth activities. It does not overseehigher education, which falls underMinistry of Science and Higher Education. The two were created in May 2006 by splitting theMinistry of Education and Science.[2] In January 2021, the two were merged, only to be separated again in 2024.[3][1]
The ministry, established in 1944, succeeded the pre-warMinistry of Religious Affairs and Public Education.
The seat of the ministry is the former building of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Public Education inWarsaw. The building was constructed in the years 1925-1930 according to the design of Zdzisław Mączeński.
