TheMinistry of Law (MinLaw;Malay:Kementerian Undang-Undang;Chinese:律政部;Tamil:சட்ட அமைச்சு) is aministry of theGovernment of Singapore responsible for the advancement in access to justice, the rule of law, the economy and society through policy, law and services.

Organisational structure

The Ministry of Law comprises several key components. At its core is the headquarters, which are supported by four departments: theInsolvency and Public Trustee's Office, theLegal Aid Bureau, the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Division and theCommunity Mediation Unit (CMCs), which oversees the Community Mediation Centres located at The Treasury and theState Courts of Singapore. Additionally, the ministry includes three boards and tribunals: the Appeals Board for Land Acquisitions, the Land Surveyors Board and the Copyright Tribunal. It also administers twostatutory boards, theIntellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and theSingapore Land Authority (SLA).

The Ministry of Law is headed by theMinister for Law, who is appointed as part of theCabinet of Singapore. The ministry was established following the1959 general election underLee Kuan Yew'sFirst Cabinet, withK. M. Byrne serving as its inaugural minister. Since its formation, all individuals who have held the position of Minister for Law have been members of thePeople's Action Party (PAP).
