TheMingo Creek Viaduct, officially called theJoe Montana Bridges, are a pair of twingirder bridges that carryPennsylvania Route 43 over theMingo Creek,Pennsylvania Route 88, and theWheeling and Lake Erie Railway betweenUnion Township andCarroll Township, both ofWashington County,Pennsylvania.
The bridges were completed in April 2002 with spans of 2,400 feet (730 m) and heights of 250 feet (76 m), which makes them the highest bridges in thePennsylvania Turnpike system. TheEmlenton Bridge at 270 feet (82 m) is the only higher bridge in Pennsylvania.[2]
The bridges are named afterPro Football Hall of FameNFLquarterbackJoe Montana, who played for nearbyRinggold High School.[3]
