Minatamis na saging (literally "sweetened banana")[1] is aFilipinodessert made with choppedsaba bananas[2] cooked in a sweetsyrup (arnibal) made withmuscovado sugar and water. Some recipes also add a little bit of salt andpandan leaf orvanilla extract. Other ingredients can also be added likesweet potato,sago,[3] or other fruits likejackfruit. It can be eaten on its own or added as an ingredient to other desserts (notably forhalo-halo). Adding the dessert over milk and shaved ice also results in another dessert known assaba con yelo (alsosabá con hielo inSpanish).[4][5][6][7]

The dish can also be cooked withcoconut milk instead of water, which is differentiated asginataang saba.[8]
