Millie Scott is an AmericanR&Bsinger who had moderate success in theUSBillboardR&Bchart during the 1980s.[1]

Biography

Scott was born inSavannah on the coast ofGeorgia. She first sanggospel, before becoming ajazz singer. After moving toNew York, she was enticed to move toDetroit byThe Temptations, and she remains in Detroit to this day.[2]

In 1971 she formed the groupQuiet Elegance along withLois Reeves and Frankie Gearing. They toured withThe Temptations and signed to theHi Records label in 1972, releasing a number of singles.[3] In 1986, she was signed to D&B Productions in Detroit, helmed byBruce Nazarian, whoserecordings led to Scott being signed as a solo artist toIsland Records and releasing her debutsingle, "Prisoner of Love". It peaked at #52 in theUK Singles Chart in 1986.[4] Follow-up singles "Automatic" and "Ev'ry Little Bit" also charted in the UK.[4]

Scott made numerous appearances on theUKChannel 4television programmeSolid Soul in the mid-1980s, alongside other R&B acts such asLoose Ends andRuby Turner.
