Miller County is acounty located in the southwestern part of theU.S. state ofGeorgia. As of the2020 census, the population was 6,000.[1] Thecounty seat isColquitt.[2] The county was created on February 26, 1856, and named after Andrew Jackson Miller (1806–56), president of theMedical College of Georgia.[3]

Geography

According to theU.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 284 square miles (740 km2), of which 282 square miles (730 km2) is land and 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2) (0.4%) is water.[4]

The majority of Miller County, west of a north-to-south line made as a continuation of the easternEarly County border, is located in theSpring Creek sub-basin of theACF River Basin (Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin). The county's very northeastern corner is located in theIchawaynochaway Creek sub-basin of the same ACF River Basin, while the southeastern portion, from just north ofState Route 91 going south, is located in the LowerFlint River sub-basin of the same larger ACF River Basin.[5]
