The river rises at North Pond inHopkinton, Massachusetts, nearInterstate 495. From there, the river flows south intoWorcester County where it forms the boundary betweenUpton andMilford. It continues south throughHopedale,Mendon, andBlackstone to Rhode Island, where the rivers flows throughWoonsocket to its confluence with theBlackstone River.
