Miklós Lente was a Canadian cinematographer and filmmaker. He was most noted for his work on the 1978 filmIn Praise of Older Women, for which he won theCanadian Film Award forBest Cinematography at the29th Canadian Film Awards[1] and theCanadian Society of Cinematographers award for Best Cinematography in a Feature.[2]
After the Canadian Film Awards were renamed to theGenie Awards, he was again nominated in the Best Cinematography category forAgency at the1st Genie Awards in 1980,[3] and forSuzanne at the2nd Genie Awards in 1981.[4] He was also a four-timeGemini Award nominee for Best Photography in a Dramatic Program or Series, receiving two nods for the drama seriesNight Heat, one for the television filmThe Little Kidnappers and one for the television filmOrdeal in the Arctic.[5]
His other cinematography credits included the theatrical filmsThe Girl in Blue,Happy Birthday to Me,Your Ticket Is No Longer Valid,Screwballs andBedroom Eyes, and the television filmsCountdown to Looking Glass andThe Gunfighters. As a filmmaker he directed the 1984 comedy filmOddballs and episodes ofNight Heat,Diamonds andCounterstrike, as well as having photography credits on all three series.
Lente was one of the developers of the3-perf pulldown process in cinematography.[6]
