Mike Schafer (born January 12, 1949) is an American writer of books onrailroading. He contributed toThe Complete Book of North American Railroading.[1]

In 1969, he co-founded the North Western Illinois Chapter of theNational Railway Historical Society.[2][3]

Schafer was the editor ofPassenger Train Journal from 1983 to 1990 and again from 2006 to 2022.[4][5]
