Mike Harris Jr.MPP (born 1985) is a Canadian politician who was elected to theLegislative Assembly of Ontario in the2018 provincial election.[1] He represents the riding ofKitchener—Conestoga as a member of theProgressive Conservative Party of Ontario. In the 2024 Provincial Cabinet Shuffle Mike Harris was appointed Minister of Red Tape Reduction.
He is the son of former Ontario premierMike Harris.[2] He is not related toMichael Harris, his immediate predecessor as MPP for Kitchener—Conestoga.[3]
In the2018 Ontario general election, Harris unsuccessfully stood to become the PC candidate in the district ofWaterloo, losing to management consultant Dan Weber.[4] Instead, Harris was chosen as the party's nominee in the district ofKitchener—Conestoga. At the time of his election in 2018, he was said to have "only recent expressed an interest in politics".[5] Harris was reelected in the2022 general election.[2]
Harris lives in Kitchener with his wife Kim and their five children.[6]
