Michael Alan Bynum (born March 20, 1978) is an American formerstarting pitcher inMajor League Baseball who played for theSan Diego Padres from2002 to2004.
He was drafted by theBoston Red Sox out ofMiddleburg High School but opted to attend theUniversity of North Carolina. In 1997 and 1998, he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theHyannis Mets of theCape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star in 1998.[1][2] He was selected by the Padres in the first round of the1999 MLB Draft. He was released by the Padres on December 15, 2004.
