Michael Borgonzi is an American professionalfootball executive who is thegeneral manager of theTennessee Titans of theNational Football League (NFL). He previously served in various scouting and executive roles for theKansas City Chiefs from 2009 to 2024.

Early life and education

A native ofEverett, Massachusetts, Borgonzi playedcollege football for theBrown Bears as afullback, where he was a four-year starter from 1998 to 2001 and earned All-Ivy League honors three times. While atBrown University, Borgonzi earned a degree in business management.[1]

In 2002, Borgonzi served as the tight ends coach atAmherst College. He then spent several years working in the financial sector in Boston. From 2007 to 2008, Borgonzi served as the assistant recruiting coordinator atBoston College.[2]

Kansas City Chiefs

In 2009, Borgonzi was hired by theKansas City Chiefs as their administrator of college scouting under general managerScott Pioli. In 2010, Borgonzi was promoted to manager of football operations. In 2011, Borgonzi was promoted to pro scout. In 2013, Borgonzi was promoted to assistant director of pro scouting under general managerJohn Dorsey. In 2015, Borgonzi was named co-director of player personnel, alongsideBrett Veach.[2]

In 2017, Borgonzi was promoted to director of player personnel under general manager Brett Veach.[3] In 2018, Borgonzi was promoted to director of football operations.[4] In 2019, Borgonzi won his firstSuper Bowl when the Chiefs defeated theSan Francisco 49ers 31–20 inSuper Bowl LIV. In 2021, Borgonzi was promoted to assistant general manager.[5] In 2022, Borgonzi won his second Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated thePhiladelphia Eagles 38–35 inSuper Bowl LVII.[6] In 2023, Borgonzi won his third Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 25–22 inSuper Bowl LVIII.[7]

Tennessee Titans

On January 17, 2025, Borgonzi was named thegeneral manager of theTennessee Titans.[8]

Personal life

Borgonzi and his wife Jill have a son and a daughter.[citation needed] His brother,Dave Borgonzi, is currently the linebackers coach for theChicago Bears.[citation needed]
