Michael Leonard Battle (July 9, 1946 – March 6, 2025) was an American professionalfootball player who was asafety for theNew York Jets in theAmerican Football League (AFL) andNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theUSC Trojans, twice earningAll-American honors. He played for the Jets in 1969 and 1970. Battle saw most of his action with the Jets as a punt and kickoff return specialist.
Battle appeared in the filmC.C. and Company (1970) in the role as Rabbit, which starredJoe Namath, then starting quarterback of the New York Jets. He died inNellysford, Virginia, on March 6, 2025, at the age of 78.[1]
