Mika Seeger is an American ceramic artist.[1] Although not primarily a musical artist, she did record a definitive version of "Great Green Gobs of Greasy, Grimy Gopher Guts".[2] She is the daughter of filmmakerToshi Seeger andAmerican folk musicianPete Seeger.

Seeger achieved some prominence in 1968 when she was arrested for involvement in anti-police demonstrations inMexico City in July 1968. She rejected legal assistance from the U.S. Embassy, electing to retain local counsel.[3] Mexico expelled Seeger from Mexico at the end of the year.[4]

Mika's ceramic murals were often created with other artists, including local school children.[5]

Personal life

Seeger is married to artist Joe Bossom, with whom she has two children, daughters Penny (born 1993/1994) and Isabelle (born 2000/2001).[1] She had one child,Tao Rodríguez-Seeger (born 1972), from her relationship with Emilio Rodríguez, a Puerto Rican filmmaker.
