Miguel Ángel Arrué Padilla (born 13 August 1952) is a Chileanfootballmanager and former footballer.
Born inIquique, as a football player, he played in Chile and abroad for three years.[1]
He has had a prolific career as a football manager in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Indonesia and Mexico. Despite he is Chilean, in Chile he just has coachedDeportes Antofagasta,Deportes Iquique,Everton andSantiago Morning.[1]
His first team abroad wasJuventud La Palma in thePeruvian Segunda División to which he came in 1988.[2] In Peru he also coachedHijos de Yurimaguas (later Deportivo Yurimaguas),Sport Boys,Alianza Lima,Deportivo Sipesa,Sporting Cristal,Melgar,[1]Pacífico[3] andPirata FC, what was his last club.[4]
Along with Hijos de Yurimaguas, he won the1990 Peruvian Segunda División.[5] In Deportivo Sipesa, he allowed the professional debut ofClaudio Pizarro.[1] He is a well remembered coach of Alianza Lima after coached it four times,[6] even suggesting the signing ofRamón Estay as manager, with whom he had worked inDeportes Iquique as an assistant.[2]
In Peru he also worked as General Manager of both the Alianza Lima youth system[7] and club Ingenia Fútbol in the Primera División ofChiclayo.[8]
In Ecuador he coachedDeportivo Quito. In Mexico, he coached bothReal Sociedad de Zacatecas andManzanillo [es] (later América Manzanillo).[1] He also coached anIndonesia youth team until 2010.[9]
In Peru he has been honored asHijo Ilustre (Illustrious Son) of two cities and a football field inHuacho was given his name.[1]
He is the father of both Franco Arrué, a Chilean football referee and Claudio Arrué, a fitness coach who has worked along with him.[1]
