Miek is a fictional character appearing inAmerican comic books published byMarvel Comics. Originally depicted as a heroic insectoid alien and ally of theHulk, Miek later metamorphoses into a colossal female form and becomes his enemy.
Miek is aninsectoid alien fromSakaar who is forced underground after the Imperials kill most of his hive. He is rescued duringHulk's battle with theRed King and works with him to free his brothers. During this time, hemetamorphoses into a giant armored form.[1][2]
Miek later locates one of the last Queens of his race at an egg farm, but is forced to kill her after learning that she was infected by the Spikes.[volume & issue needed] He later leads the Warbound in Hulk's place while he forms alliances withCaiera andHiroim's people.[volume & issue needed]
After the Hulk's spaceship explodes, destroying Sakaar and killing Caiera, Miek and the Warbound accompany him in returning to Earth to seek vengeance against theIlluminati.[3] Hulk later learns that Miek had known of his ship's damaged power core, but never told him.[4] As such, he attacks Miek and imprisons him in theNegative Zone.[5][1][2]
After being exposed to Amatsu-Mikaboshi's energy, Miek becomes female and moves to theSavage Land.[1][2] After killing numerous Sakaarans, she attracts the Hulk's attention and is ultimately killed in a battle with him.[7][8][9][2]
Miek is an insect-like alien with superhuman strength and durability, and the ability to fly. As a gladiator, he developed six-limbed fighting skills, often wielding four weapons at a time to keep his opponents off-balance.[10]
In theWhat If? issue revolving around Planet Hulk calledWhat if Caiera the Oldstrong had survived the destruction of Sakaar instead of the Hulk?, Miek is killed when Sakaar is destroyed. His death prevents anyone from discovering the truth of Sakaar's destruction and leads to Caiera conquering Earth.[volume & issue needed]
Miek appears in aWhat If? issue revolving around "World War Hulk". In the first story, he is killed byIron Man. In the second story, Miek's treachery is uncovered afterThor reasons with Hulk.[volume & issue needed]
Miek appears in theMarvel Super Hero Adventures episode "It's An Alien!", voiced again bySam Vincent.[12] This version possesses a purple spider-like appearance and uses robotic arms.
Miek appears inPlanet Hulk, voiced by Sam Vincent.[13][12] This version is cowardly yet good-natured and friendly and looks up to the Hulk as a friend. As opposed to his comics counterpart, Miek becomes braver over the course of the film, single-handedly fighting and killing a traitor who was about to kill his friends.
A female incarnation of Miek appears in media set in theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This version is initially a larva-like creature and friend ofKorg's who uses a robotic exoskeleton equipped with blades.
Miek first appears inThor: Ragnarok.[14][15][16][17][18][19] While being forced by theGrandmaster to fight in gladiatorial combat on the planetSakaar, Miek and Korg meet and befriendThor after he arrives. When Thor stages an escape,Valkyrie frees Miek, Korg, and the rest of the gladiators to start a revolution. After hijacking the Grandmaster's starship, theStatesman, the gladiators help Thor evacuateAsgard before joining him in finding a new home for the Asgardian refugees.
InAvengers: Endgame, five years after survivingThanos' attack on theStatesman andthe Blip off-screen during the events ofAvengers: Infinity War, Miek has settled on Earth inNew Asgard,Norway alongside Korg, Thor, and the refugees. Miek and Korg later help Thor, theAvengers, and their allies defeat an alternate timeline variant of Thanos.[20]
Miek makes a minor appearance inThor: Love and Thunder, portrayed by Carly Rees and voiced by Stephen Murdoch.[22][23][24][12] As of this film, she has metamorphosed and travels in a robotic exoskeleton resembling a well-dressed woman.
