Michael John Block (28 January 1940 – 12 December 2019) was an English professionalfootballer who played as aright winger. He made nearly 200Football League appearances forChelsea,Brentford andWatford over a 10-year period.[1]
Born inIpswich, Block began his career with the youth team atFirst Division clubChelsea and played in both legs of the1958 FA Youth Cup Final.[1][4][5] Block progressed to the Chelsea first team and made 40 appearances and scored six goals between 1957 and 1962.[3]
Block left Chelsea forBrentford for £5,000 in January 1962.[6] While with Brentford, he was the provider ofassists for many goals scored by the club's all-international frontline ofJohnny Brooks,Billy McAdams andJohn Dick.[7] He later played forWatford,[8] before dropping intonon-League football withChelmsford City in 1967.[8]
