Michelle A. Schmidt isUnited States Armylieutenant general who is serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2) at the United States Army Staff. She most recently has served as commanding general of the7th Infantry Division since September 15, 2023 to October 2025,[1], as the deputy commanding general of theI Corps from August to September 2023, as the director of force development of theUnited States Army from July 2022 to August 2023[2], as Director of Operations for theDefense Intelligence Agency from July 2021 to June 2022 and Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence of theResolute Support Mission and Director of Intelligence for United States Forces-Afghanistan from July 2020 to July 2021.[3][4][5][6][7][8]

In August 2023, Schmidt was assigned as commanding general of the7th Infantry Division, and in 2025 was assigned as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, US Army.[9]
