
Michael Rymer (born March 1963 inMelbourne[1]) is an Australian[2] television and film director, best known for his work on the re-imaginedBattlestar Galactica TV series, for which he directedthe pilot miniseries and several episodes ofthe series. He also directedIn Too Deep andQueen of the Damned.
Rymer attended film school at theUniversity of Southern California.[3]
Rymer's directorial debut,Angel Baby, won sevenAustralian Film Institute (AFI) Awards in 1995, including Best Director and Best Screenplay (Original) for Rymer himself.[7]
Rymer won the award of Best Dramatic Feature at the 2012Byron Bay International Film Festival for the filmFace to Face, and theHugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form for theJessica Jones episode "AKA Smile" in 2016.[8][9] The 2003 Battlestar Galactica miniseries, which he directed, won theSaturn Award for Best Television Presentation in2004.
