Michael Moffat (born 15 February 1985) is a Scottishfootballer who plays as astriker forGlenafton Athletic.
Moffat spent six seasons inJunior football withGirvan before signing forAyr United in January 2011.[1][2] Moffat scored eleven goals in his firstseason at Ayr, including the winner againstBrechin City to get the club promoted to theFirst Division.[3] The followingseason, Moffat netted seven goals for the Honest Men, all of which came in the First Division. During the 2011–12 campaign, Moffat also appeared for Ayr atHampden Park for theLeague Cup semi-final againstlocal rivals,Kilmarnock.[4] In June 2012, Moffat signed a new deal along withMark Roberts to stay at theSomerset Park outfit, following the club's relegation to theSecond Division.[5]
After an impressive2013–14 season, in which he finished asleaguetop scorer, Moffat signed for League One rivalsDunfermline Athletic.[6] His first competitive goal for the side came in his debut againstAnnan Athletic in theScottish League Cup.[7] However, in his first season with Dunfermline, Moffat was unable to replicate the consistent goal scoring he had seen at both Girvan and then Ayr, managing only six competitive goals for the Pars in the2014–15 season. His second season with the club started positively, with thestriker surpassing his previous season's tally in his first twelve competitive matches. Of these goals, three were scored in consecutive league matches against Brechin City,Cowdenbeath andPeterhead, whilst he also scored abrace against league rivalsForfar Athletic in theScottish Challenge Cup.
After three seasons away, Moffat returned toAyr United on 23 May 2017, signing a two-year deal with the club.[8]
In February 2023 Moffat joinedWest of Scotland League sideGlenafton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.[9]
