Michael Epkenhans (b. 1955 at Wiedenbrück, Germany) is a Germanmilitary historian known for his works dealing with theGerman Imperial Navy. He was the director of theOtto-von-Bismarck-Stiftung inFriedrichsruh from 1996 to 2009. In February 2009 he became the director of research for theMilitärgeschichtliches Forschungsamt der Bundeswehr inPotsdam.^[1] Following a reorganisation in 2013, the organisation became theCenter for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr.
