Michael Henry Carreras (21 December 1927 – 19 April 1994) was a British film producer and director.[2] He was known for his association withHammer Films, being the son of founderJames Carreras,[3] and taking an executive role in the company during its most successful years.
As producer, he worked onThe Curse of Frankenstein (1957),Dracula (1958) andThe Curse of the Werewolf (1960) andShe (1965) among over sixty other films. He also wrote a smaller number of screenplays. He later turned to directing, withThe Savage Guns / Tierra brutal (1961),Maniac (1963),The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964),Slave Girls (1967),The Lost Continent (1968) andShatter (1975) among others. In 1971, he took over directingBlood from the Mummy's Tomb after directorSeth Holt died partway through filming.[4]
Carreras died from cancer in London on 19 April 1994.[5]
