Mevo Beitar (Hebrew:מְבוֹא בֵּיתָר, lit.Beitar Gateway) is amoshav shitufi in centralIsrael. Located ten kilometres south-west ofJerusalem in theJerusalem corridor, it falls under the jurisdiction ofMateh Yehuda Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 1,058.[1]
The village was established near theBetar fortress on 24 April 1950 bynative Israelis andimmigrants fromArgentina who were members of theBeitar movement, includingMatityahu Drobles, later a member of theKnesset.[2] It was founded on the land of the depopulatedArab village ofal-Qabu.[3] Located around a kilometre from theGreen Line, it was aborder settlement until theSix-Day War.
