Merila Zarei (Persian:مریلا زارعی; born April 14, 1974) is an Iranian actress. She has received various accolades, including aSilver Bear, threeCrystal Simorghs, fourHafez Awards, four Iran Cinema Celebration Awards and an Iran's Film Critics and Writers Association Award.[1][2]
A graduate ofAzad University of Tehran, during her studies she became interested inacting throughEzatollah Entezami's acting courses.[3]
Her first movie wasPatak by Ali Asghar Shadravan in 1994. She received theCrystal Simorgh for thebest actress in asupporting role forThe Friday's Soldiers (2005,Masoud Kimiai), from the 23rdFajr International Film Festival.[2] She is also the winner ofbest actress of32nd Fajr International Film Festival.
She has a younger sister, Melika Zarei, who is also an actress.
