Menlo Park station is aCaltrain station located inMenlo Park, California. It was an inaugural station along the foundationalSan Francisco and San Jose Railroad, which commenced service on October 18, 1863, making it the oldest continually operating railway station in California.[5][6] Thestation building was built in 1867 and later acquired by theSouthern Pacific Railroad. During the 1890s, Southern Pacific added Victorian ornamentation to the depot to make it appear more attractive to students and visitors toStanford University. The station was added to theNational Register of Historic Places in 1974,[3] and became aCalifornia Historical Landmark in 1983.[4]
