Mekiš (Albanian:Mekishi) is a village situated inDoljevac municipality inSerbia.[1]

History

Mekiš (Albanian:Mekishi) had 30 houses inhabited bySerbians and 1 house inhabited byAlbanians before theExpulsion of the Albanians took place in 1877–1878.[2] All Albanians left theDoljevac region by force of theSerbian army and fled to modern-dayKosovo, which was back then theVilayet of Kosovo of theOttoman Empire. These Albanians became known asMuxhahirs and were demographically Albanians of theGheg dialect andMuslims.
