Mehdi Aminrazavi (born September 22, 1957) is an Iranian scholar of philosophy and mysticism. He is the Kurt Leidecker Chair inAsian Studies and a professor of philosophy and religion as well as director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies Program at theUniversity of Mary Washington.[1][2][3][4]
Born inMashhad,Iran, Aminrazavi studied at theUniversity of Washington inSeattle and received his bachelor's degree inArchitecture andcity planning and a master's inphilosophy. He then transferred toTemple University where he received his master's inreligious studies and aPh.D. in philosophy of religion. He has been teaching at theUniversity of Mary Washington since 1990.[5][6]
Aminrazavi is a member of a number of prestigious national and international philosophical and religious organizations including theAmerican Academy of Religion, theAmerican Philosophical Association and theMiddle Eastern Society of America.[7]
